This is the English version of a rebuttal of fascist sympathisers who argued that we should stop helping Ukrainians. The rebuttal was published by Sydöstran 2 October, and Folkbladet 5 October.
In their letter to Sydöstran, "A devastating escalation of the war", on September 25, the writers side with the fascist dictatorship in the Kremlin, which more than ten years ago started the war with the occupation of Crimea and parts of Donbas.

Since the full-scale invasion began, more of Ukraine's territories are being occupied. By now, everyone knows about the bestial atrocities that Russia is committing against the Ukrainian population. Bucha, Borodianka, Irpin, Izium and Mariupol are names that will forever be associated with the mass murders, gang rapes, tortures, kidnappings of children that the Russian fascists carried out on defenseless Ukrainians.
Most Swedes sympathize with the victims of the genocide. The submission writers sympathize with the perpetrators. This despite the fact that we all know that the Kremlin has broken all agreements and understandings with Ukraine.
The countries concluded an agreement in 1997 where the Russian Black Sea Fleet was allowed to rent a naval base in Sevastopol. The agreement also included an assurance to respect Ukraine's sovereignty. The agreement was renewed in 2010 under the name Kharkiv Pact.
In connection with the invasion of Donbas, the Kremlin entered and broke Minsk I and Minsk II. According to the agreements, Ukraine would, among other things, be guaranteed the right to control its borders and all foreign troops would be withdrawn from Ukraine.
The Kremlin completely ignored this and retained control of eleven border crossings between the countries. The OSCE was only able to check two of these, but could still between 2014 and until February 24, 2022 observe that roughly 30,000 soldiers in Russian uniforms crossed the border at those two border crossings.
It is therefore not serious to advocate for peace or a cease-fire where one of the parties is the Kremlin. The fascist regime will use the time of a cease-fire to build up new forces, only to later violate agreements and launch a renewed attack on Ukraine in order to carry out more gang rapes against defenseless women.
Decency demands that we stand in solidarity with the victims of the fascists' brutal war. But the writers complain that we are giving Ukraine the opportunity to defend itself.
They, like me, know that Putin will only agree to peace if Ukraine gives up also areas that the Kremlin does not occupy today so that the genocide can continue without annoying interruptions from Ukrainians who want to free their countrymen.
