Fog för russofobi

Ordet russofobi uppfanns som bekant av den forna Tsarregimen för att vifta bort mot de övergrepp som den utsatte den egna befolkningen för.
Begreppet används flitigt av den nuvarande putinregimen som svar på regimens brott mot internationell rätt sedan den inledde kriget mot Ukraina 2014. Regimens ständiga tjatande om russofobi är patetiskt. Det används inte av demokratiskt valda regeringar. Ingen svensk regering skulle få för sig att kalla utländska kritiker för ”swefober”.
Men nu finns det kanske fog för begreppet ändå. I varje stad som de ryska trupperna intagit har en tsunami av vidriga krigsbrott begåtts. Massmord, tortyr, misshandel, gruppvåldtäkter och fängslande av civila. I de ockuperade områdena har den ryska ockupationsmakten inlett en russifiering.
Ryska läroplaner har införts i ukrainska skolorna, ukrainska barn undervisas att ukrainare inte är ett riktigt folk och de har förbjudits att tala sitt eget språk. Dessutom har tusentals ukrainska barn förts bort med tvång. Barnen ”adopteras” av ryska föräldrar i syfte att göra ryssar av dem. Det är ett folkmordskrig som pågår. Enligt Putin är inte Ukraina ett riktigt land och ukrainare inte ett riktigt folk med en egen identitet.
Det som händer i Ukraina nu kunde ha hänt i Baltikum om dessa länder inte hade blivit medlemmar i Nato. Putin har ett flertal gånger beklagat sig över att det sovjetiska imperiet kollapsade och att människor i ockuperade områden blev fria. Därför måste vi hjälpa Ukraina att besegra Ryssland i grunden och återfå de gränser som gällde före 2014. En frysning av konflikten och vapenstillestånd kan inte tillåtas då detta enbart skulle hjälpa Putin. Dels skulle han använda den tiden till att förstärka sin vapenmakt, dels skulle han försöka få oss att upphäva sanktionerna mot hans regim.

Now, there are reasons for russophobia.
As is well known, the word russophobia was invented by the former Tsarist regime to wave away the abuses it subjected its own population to. The term is widely used by the current putin regime in response to the regime's violations of international law since it started the war against Ukraine in 2014. The regime's constant nagging about russophobia is pathetic. It is not used by democratically elected governments. No Swedish government would call foreign critics "Swephobes".
But now there is perhaps justification for the concept. In every city and village captured by the russian troops, a tsunami of heinous war crimes has been committed. Mass murder, torture, beatings, gang rapes and imprisonment of civilians. In the occupied territories, the russian occupying power has initiated russification. russian curricula have been introduced into Ukrainian schools, Ukrainian children are taught that Ukrainians are not a real people and they are forbidden to speak their own language. In addition, thousands of Ukrainian children have been forcibly abducted. The children are "adopted" by russian parents with the aim of turning them into russians. There is a genocidal war going on. According to putin, Ukraine is not a real country and Ukrainians are not a real people with their own identity.
What is happening in Ukraine now could have happened in the Baltics if these countries had not become members of NATO. putin has repeatedly complained about the collapse of soviet empire when people in its occupied territories became free. Therefore, we must help Ukraine to fundamentally defeat russia and regain the borders that existed before 2014. A freeze on the conflict and a cease-fire cannot be allowed as this would only help putin. On the one hand, he would use that time to strengthen his armed forces, and on the other hand, he would try to get us to lift the sanctions against his regime.
