Defend a democracy, not a fascist dictatorship.
A rebuttal of old women who support the kremlin's gang rapes of Ukrainian women.
This is the English version of a rebuttal of fascist sympathisers who argued that we should stop helping Ukrainians. The rebuttal was published by Sydöstran 21 October.
Defend democracy, not fascism
The writers of "Världen behöver fredsministrar" in Sydöstran 11 October 11 are upset that Ukraine is getting help to defend its democracy against the fascist dictatorship in the Kremlin.

They are also outraged that we want to maintain a rules-based security order aimed at preventing genocidal wars of the kind that the fascist dictatorship is now engaged in.
Butja, Borodianka, Irpin, Izium and Mariupol will forever in the future be associated with the mass murders, torture and gang rapes committed there by the Russian troops on the orders of the dictator in the Kremlin.
Women who claim to work for peace should therefore demand that Russia withdraw its troops from Ukraine. But no. Instead, they criticize those who are trying to help Ukraine to prevent further gang rapes of Ukrainian women and children.
The writers also know that this is a war that has nothing to do with NATO. The war has only imperialistic reasons.
The writers belong to the so-called peace movement that supported the Soviet Union during the Cold War. When the Soviet Union collapsed and millions of people in Eastern Europe regained their freedom, this sparked an enormous hatred of NATO.
The hatred grew when the populations of countries that had been occupied by the Soviet Union after the Second World War turned to NATO for fear of future attacks from Russia.
The peace movement's previous support of the Soviet Union was partly ideological. But as it turns out now when the support shows up in the form of criticism of our solidary support of the Ukrainian people's struggle against the fascist dictatorship's genocidal war, there is another weighty reason: the contempt for democracy and human rights expressed by the writers.
