This is the English version of my letter to newspapers which was published by Kristianstadsbladet and Norra Skåne 5 May, and in Sydöstran 6 May.
The op-ed published in Aftonbladet on April 19, with the text “Today's threats will never be bombed away”, rightly aroused disgust.
The writers dismissed democracies as “constructs developed by the West under the leadership of the United States with the aim of securing Western dominance and lifestyle.” Despite their aversion to democracy, the debaters took advantage of the freedoms of the press and expression guaranteed to citizens in democracies. The debaters’ downplaying of the threat from the fascist dictatorship of muscovy also aroused strong emotions.
Their contempt for democracy and understanding of the imperialist ambitions of the muscovy fascist dictatorship are not surprising. Among the signatories are many members of Women for Peace. It is an undemocratic organization. In 2023, the Gender Equality Authority (Jämställdhetsmyndigheten) decided that Women for Peace had to repay its state grant because the organization, because of its support for the Russian invasion of Ukraine, violated the authority's democratic conditions for state grants. The decision came after an investigation was initiated after a prominent member of Women for Peace compared our former Minister of Defense to Quisling.
One of the founders of the “Swedish-Russian Friendship Association” has also signed the article. The association was formed in 2016 to support the Russian occupation of Crimea and parts of Donbas. Two of the founders of this friendship association also formed the organization Folk och Fred. As security policy expert Patrik Oksanen has noted, it is an organization that does the Kremlin’s business. In connection with the Kremlin sending in its neo-Nazi militias Rusich and the Russian Imperialist Movement in 2014 to occupy Donbas, the founders of Folk och Fred formed the Facebook groups Aktivister för Fred and Ukrainabulletinen. The task of these Facebook groups was to defend the Russian neo-Nazi organizations’ invasion of Donbas and legitimize the Russian puppets who formed “people’s republics.”
It is therefore not surprising that the signatories oppose the democracies of Europe trying to protect themselves from attacks by the fascist dictatorship of Russia, whose illegitimate president and internationally wanted war criminal is striving to restore the Russian Empire. If they have their way, we can add the names of Narva, Tallinn, Riga and Vilnius to Bucha, Borodianka, Irpin, Izium and Mariupol. To begin with.
